Jamie Dick is a high school senior with a 3.8 grade-point average. He plays on
his high school varsity team, and has been offered five academic scholarships.
But on weekends this soft-spoken student takes on
a much more aggressive persona.
That's when he dons the helmet and fire suit of a NASCAR race driver
and climbs through the window of his 700-horsepower, 150-mile-an-hour-plus car no. 88.
During the six months of NASCAR's Grand National Division
racing season, Jamie flies out on weekends to meet his seven-man,
California based pit crew and the trucks and trailers
hauling race gear. Those venues take him all over the West.
